When You Feel Stressed Out During Exam

I’m so stressed, I feel that all of my hairs must be white! I have SATs, Mock preparation exams, TOEFL, WAEC, NECO and about a million things to do for my university application. My teachers and my parents won’t get off my back and I feel like everyone in school is out to get me. My life is totally spinning out of control! Nobody understands me and I feel like I’m losing my mind. How can I get my life back under control?

This is the thought of many students. I have a message for them.

Sometimes in life, it feels like everything is pouring down on you at once. From what I am seeing, it seems like you have a lot on your plate. These are all important exams which will determine a major part of your life. But there are several things you can do.

Firstly, it is important to plan your life out. Since you have such a busy schedule, it is important to plan almost every second of your life for the next few months in order to be able to properly prepare for everything. Having a daily, weekly or even monthly planner can help you evaluate what you have to do and when you have to do them. University applications have deadlines that you are pressed to meet. Putting down these deadlines and crafting a few deadlines of your own could be helpful. Fixing the dates for studying can help to ensure that you do not procrastinate studying for these important exams. Also, putting down things that you need to do-like buy stationery for the exams- can ensure that you do them on time.

It is important that you talk to people. Keeping these feelings bottled up inside of you can be dangerous for your health. Your teachers and parents are only being hard on you because they know how much work you have to do and they want to make sure that you get all of it done. But if you still feel like they are pressurizing you too much, tell them how you feel. They will most likely want to assist you in any way that they can. Also, you may feel that everyone is out to get you because of a few unrelated incidents. Talking to your friends about these problems can help you get different perspectives of the situation. If you feel uncomfortable talking about your issues to someone, writing in a journal can help. Expressing your feelings is important in helping you not to get too stressed out.

Lastly, it is important to pray. Every decision that you make should be carried to the Lord in prayer. It is only God that knows what is good for you and only He knows his will. The will of God must be at the back of your head. The Bible says that all those who love God should ask and they shall receive. Strengthen your relationship with God through prayer, meditation, Bible studies and righteous deeds. Pray with friends for the Bible says, when three or more are gathered in my name, know that I am with them also.

These times of your life can be extremely tasking, but with God’s grace and a little effort of your own, you can make it through.

The Secret Of Higher Education

Change can involve excitement and looked at as a great opportunity or be scary and as the worst thing that can happen. Whether it is a good or bad experience is contingent on a person’s attitude. Regardless of how it is experienced, normalizing change is the pathway to a fulfilled life.

A baby’s first steps are shaky, but eventually result in a flop. Moving from middle school to high school for the first time is something to look forward to, but upper classmen can be intimidating. Leaving home to go to college means freedom and independence, but also the potential for homesickness, intimidation with arrogant professors, and hard-to-get-along-with roommates. Day one on the first real job is the start of a new chapter in life, but feeling totally stupid is common.

The aforementioned experiences are a common pathway for students pursuing higher education. Real change begins by making difficult choices. After getting to high school, will the student respond appropriately or react negatively to bullies and gossipers? Are the challenges of pursuing higher education leaned into rather than avoided or denied? Does the fear of asking questions and false pride dictate how the new job goes?

Tough choices continue as life goes on. Mel Robbins, author of The 5 Second Rule attributes that personally coming out of bankruptcy and heavy drinking began with a process of counting backwards 5-4-3-2-1 to launch out of bed in the morning. The story is mainly about a desperate need for change of direction in her life by ignoring feelings and making a commitment to act on improving. Mel claims the seemingly insignificant process of counting 5-4-3-2-1 and launching out of bed instead of hitting the snooze button began the road to recovery that led to being one of the top speakers in the world.

The key to Mel’s success is being smart about what needs done and taking the action to do it by not giving in to what feels comfortable. Another bad guy is analysis paralysis that involves too much thinking eventually resulting in talking yourself out of doing anything. Although the research varies, many would agree it takes at least 21 days to create a habit. The time leading up to creating a habit is hard because change is a challenge! Failed New Year’s resolutions are ongoing proof.

An accompanying bad guy to analysis paralysis is cognitive distortion. Cognitive distortions are simply ways the mind convinces itself of something that isn’t really true. The inaccurate thoughts reinforce negative thinking. The tricky part is, a rationale is built around the false ideas. Following are some common distortions people use:

Pessimism – amplifying the negative while filtering out the positive.

Helplessness – feeling helpless over what happens in life.

Overgeneralization – basing an opinion on a single piece of evidence.

Blaming – “it’s not my fault, you don’t understand.”

Emotional reasoning – feelings are automatically indicative of what is true.

Attempts to change are unlikely with dominant cognitive distortions. That’s why The 5 Second Rule is so effective in completing a predetermined decision. The only thing to think about is repeating the 5 second count down to take action. Distortions based on feelings or over thinking are to be ignored.

Answering five questions serves as additional help in determining when and how to change:

Where are you? Take an honest and objective look at your status right now physically, emotionally, relationally, mentally (academically), spiritually, and financially.

Where are you going and why? Write down dreams and get a vision and purpose to stay focused.

Who are you? Know every person is talented, gifted, and destined for great things. The hardest person to convince of that is you.

What are you doing that matters? Pay it forward.

When and how are you going to start the changes needed to be smart about higher education and live a life that matters?

Begin using The 5 Second Rule: 5-4-3-2-1, start answering these questions now!

How To Solve Math Problem During College

Many people encounter turbulence on the path to completing their education, and math disciplines are some of the most difficult one that often cause people to experience this. However, we no longer live in a bubble where the only help to be had must come from a next door neighbor or a teacher or older student at school. Statistics math homework help is readily available on the world wide web, and is one of the most useful services a person can contract if he or she is having problems with either of these subjects.

There is no reason to suffer through a semester or two of really not understanding anything. Or, worse, a person who needs but does not seek help may end up failing a class and reducing their grade point average, plus the hit to self-esteem that this type of experience brings about. This is why it is so important for people to be self-aware and to seek out help when they need it.

This is not an admittance of weakness, this is a practice of strength. It is hard to admit when we don’t know something, and even harder still to do something about it.

Better Sooner than Later

The sooner a person contracts statistics math homework help, the sooner they can get back to the subjects they love the most without the fear and hassle of math creeping up and interrupting their plans when they really can excel at other things.

It is, of course, important for everyone to master basic statistics and math, and some people have to struggle more at this than others. Some people, in fact, seem to have been born knowing. However, what’s important is for every person to do the best he or she can, and that often involves asking for help. It’s best to do this as soon as a person knows that he or she is having trouble or will experience trouble in the near future.

We don’t live in a slow paced world. On the contrary, we live in a very fast paced world, and as soon as we notice a problem we need to act on it. Otherwise, problems mount up, like sand on the sea shore, and are harder to work out when they are all piled on top of each other.

It can be crucial to seek help right when you need it

In almost any challenge, there are people out there who can help us along the way if and when we get stuck. This is a principle as old as human existence, and implies that we humans have not evolved intended to achieve most things on our own, but, on the contrary, have evolved to achieve most things by drawing on the different strengths of a number of different people.

In the distant past, we would run and hunt animals together, cook together, raise children together, and do almost every act necessary for the betterment of our society together with others. Today, while tasks are more specialized and the rewards are often individual, an undercurrent of collective benefit still runs through our activities, in many of the things that we do.

Seeking help from others whenever we encounter one of our own weaknesses is a human right that we have to exercise so that we can all be better, whether it is in math, cooking, or flying to outer space.

The Difference Between Professional And College Life

Each one of us grew up with an aim, a dream in our heads, which determined our higher education, our choice of college.

Coming to college is like a dream come true for many. That sense of freedom, responsibility, the endless possibilities for future, friends, bunking. If you ask me, college life makes a boy a man.

But life doesn’t stop there. In the blink of an eye, college life gets over (I’m in my last year and I have no idea how the last two years went by) and you’re facing the real world; and you know, you have to have a job.

Some of us might be in a corporate job, some in the healthcare industry, some maybe entrepreneurs- whichever we choose, we are now of the working class. And as days go by, you feel nostalgic about those good old college days, wishing to go back.

I have brought together a list of differences between college life and professional life. I hope you can relate to them.

1. Friends vs. Co-workers/ colleagues.

What’s college life without friends? The plans of bunking classes, going out for movies, playing cupid, helping one another for assignments- none of them would have been possible without them. But in professional life, it is very different. You might or might not be friends with them, the possibility is biased. When it comes to profession, there is a sense of competition, so the chances of being friends might dwindle down. But don’t lose hope. You might find a friend in a co-worker.

2. Appearance.

Your friends wouldn’t mind if you showed up in college dressed in a crumpled shirt, or if your hair was all messed up. But in professional life, appearance is a must. You cannot show up in office in a crumpled shirt or unpolished shoe; your boss might note it as negative attitude. Also, some of us harbor a craze for tattoos, which finds an outlet during our college life (I got 3 done within my first year). But many workplaces view tattoos as unprofessional (as if having tattoos makes us thugs, eh?).

3. Money.

We have all gone broke once in a while but we had friends to fall back on. You could borrow money from your friend and even loan it to any friend. But in your professional life, you cannot just borrow from anybody. Loans from banks are an option if you are short money.

4. Vacations.

As college students, we all had the bliss of vacations or holidays. Me, I get a summer vacation of almost fifty days, an autumn break of twenty days and a winter break of fifteen days. The home coming or planning holidays with friends; that was fun.

But when you are in the professional life, vacations are a distant dream. Most offices have a two-week paid vacation policy. (What will I do in two weeks?) Moreover, in college, you could always plan a weekend, maybe a long drive, night outs; but in your professional life, that doesn’t happen too often.

5. Sleep.

Unless you were facing a deadline for any assignment submission or you were in one of those “I’ll finish three seasons of F.R.I.E.N.D.S tonight” marathons, or you were talking to your girlfriend/boyfriend, you had enough time to sleep. A research says that a college student gets 8.3 hours of sleep, while employed people have 7.7 hours of sleep. Damn!

6. Life, as in a general sense.

You had the license to be immature at times, act out on instinct, plan trips instantaneously or walk away from the college gate to watch a movie. You could drink till you dropped and wake up with a nasty hangover and still laugh at it, you could go on dates, pursue your hobbies. College life made you feel invincible.

When you enter your professional life, you gain a sense of maturity, you plan your trips from a long time, you don’t act out, and rather you measure each word and act. Movies and dates are weekend plans, so are plans of drinking. Professional life changes us.

Well, I’m pretty sure college life wins in this war. But hey, professional life isn’t that bad. Many of my friends are already employed and they say, it ain’t that bad, but it ain’t fun like college. So, if you’re still in college, enjoy, because once it’s gone, it’s gone forever.

Understanding Modernization

Modernization is the process of change in the sectors of the economy, politics and social systems. These changes reflects the movement of societies from a traditional stage to a more modern phase.

How does modernization occur?

Modernization occurs through:

1. Colonialism: this is an important reason for modernization. The Indian colonial master introduced the English language which was the first sign of modernization.

2. Migration: this is also a reason for modernization. This can especially be illustrated by the migration of Europeans to the colonies in the 18th and 19th centuries.

Aspects of modernization

The following points are the basic aspects of modernization:

1. The modern way of living: this happens when the old way of living changes into a modern way. Example replacement of mat with a dining table or replacement of pitcher with a water cooler.

2. Changes in residence: for the comfort of living, some people changed their residence from wooden huts to houses made with bricks.

3. Mass media: A communicate through narration has now being replaced by newspapers and internet.

4. Urbanization: The domestic migration to cities or urban areas from rural areas. Example: Just after the independence of Pakistan, 87% population was living in villages and 12% was in cities. But presently 68% lives rural ares and 32 % can be found in urban areas. This is one of the main characteristics of modernization.

5. Change of profession. In the beginning, the economy was agrarian in nature, but in due time industrialization occurred. This is another main feature of modernization: the rapid industrialization of societies.

6. literacy and education: a situation whereby the population literacy rates increase dramatically.

7. High per capital income: the significant rise of the per capital income is important due to the higher purchasing power of the people which will, in turn, boost significant economic growth.

Economic aspects of modernization

The economic aspect of modernization can be derived from the following points:

1. Money: this takes place when the barter system has now been replaced with paper money.

2. Wage system: this happens because in traditional societies wages were not connected to time whereas in modern societies wages became related to time.

3. Communication system: communication is compulsory for economic development. because communication is important for economic, social and political functioning.

4. Technology and its application: through modernization, the technology applied in daily lives of the people has replaced the old ways of doing things with manual/animal powert.

5. Preservation of food products: the storage of food and other products and the distribution of such items in a systematic way increases the consumption and production of food products..

Political modernization

Political modernization is regarded as the result of economic development and social mobilization.

Political modernization contains three elements:

1. Validation of authority

2. Development of political participation

3. Differentiation of structure

Characteristics of political modernization

The following are the most important characteristics of political modernization:

1. It increased the influence of a single Authority: with the process of political modernization, the influence of a single authority and its agencies increased and become widespread.

2. Variation of functions: political modernization has brought a clear picture of the differentiation function.

3. Ultimate power rest with the people: political modernization can be observed with the shifting of ultimate power to the people which occurred slowly and gradually.

4. Democratic values and principles become popular: Like Nelson Mandela said: one man, one vote and regular elections to clean up the political swamp.

5. Secularization of politics: the separation of religion and state.

Why You Should Try Studying Abroad

The option to study abroad can present a wide range of beneficial experiences for the young person. One of the most appealing aspects is the ability to learn and appreciate the culture of a different country and really see how other people live. Plus, it can really help to bring out a person’s independent nature. Let’s take a look at four of the key benefits:

Discover a new country

A great reason to apply to study abroad is the opportunity to experience life in a brand-new country. This makes it possible to appreciate different activities, customs, and outlooks. In addition to studying, the time in your host country can include exploring the local landmarks, museums, natural wonders and new terrains. Also, there may be plenty of opportunities to visit neighboring countries. For instance, if you are studying in a European country, it can be very easy to reach other major cities like Rome, Barcelona, Paris and London.

Great education

The ability to study aboard makes it possible to learn a qualification or experience a different style of education that isn’t an option at home. Also, when you are away from home with fewer distractions, there is a greater chance that you will fully immerse yourself in your education.

Also, this has the potential to enhance your future career opportunities because the option to study abroad will show you have a willingness to learn, a great education, the likelihood of better language skills, and a new perspective on culture.

Experience a new culture

For many young students, this could be their first time away from home for an extended period of time. This makes it a great time to learn many new life experiences, including the local culture of the host country. Even after a short period of time in a new country, you can soon learn to appreciate and understand the local people, social atmospheres, traditions, customs, and history.

Discover new interests

A further wonderful reason to look elsewhere to study is the ability to discover new interests and activities. Many of the new things picked up in a host country may not even be possible at home. After trying out new things, there is a chance that you will find you have a talent for a local activity or sport like golf, snow skiing, water sports or hiking. Also, there will likely be plenty of fun and exciting ways to stay entertained, such as going to concerts, nightclubs, movies, or plays.

All About Teaching Method

History is the record of human past activities that are taking place on the earth surface. Teaching methods are different principles and methods that are used to instruct students in a learning environment. The methods used by a teacher will depend on the skills or information the teacher would like to convey to their students. Some of the most common teaching methods are memorization, class participation, recitation, and demonstration. While these teaching methods are widely used, every instructor has a specific teaching method. Teachers must be flexible in their methods and often adjust their style of teaching to accommodate their students.

Efficient teaching methods are essential tools that can help students achieve success in the classroom. Each student has a different personality and learning abilities. There are several factors that a teacher must consider when choosing a teaching method for their students. some determining factors for selecting a teaching method include the student’s interest and background knowledge, as well as their environment and learning abilities. Teachers also help their students learn with various aids such as Auditory, Kinesthetic, and visual aids. Instructors use these teaching methods to help students understand and complete class assignments.

Teaching method as a history often includes lesson plans that students can use to help retain and recall information. Various forms of teaching methods used with lesson plans are explanation, demonstration, and collaboration. The explanation is similar to a lecture that provides detailed information about the specific subject. Demonstrations are used to provide visual learning opportunities from different view and collaboration allows students to participate.

TYPES OF TEACHING METHODS
There are two main types of teaching methods which are a non-participatory method and participatory method. They are considered as the major categories though non-participatory methods only one type can be used which is the lecture method. This can be applied in the case of high population or large number of students in the class. The following are the major methods of teaching that are applied as the participatory methods of teaching especially in teaching history:

1. STORYTELLING METHOD – These are methods of teaching that is applied as the main method particularly in the low population classes. For instance, when teaching in the class you mainly may decide to choose some certain topic and tell the story related so as to attract the understanding of the students to understand the lesson. The teacher ensures the time scheduled in the time table and the scheme of work of the lesson plan and lesson notes are all following in a smooth.

2. DEMONSTRATION METHOD – Teaching strategies is the careful plan of actions to achieve a goal, or the art of developing, or carry out such a scheme. This is an elaborate and systematic plan of action. This is all plan made to help learners to access the information. Teaching strategies can apply for this and not for that. Teaching strategies should aim at involving audio, visual, and audiovisual and kinesthetic learning aids. The demonstration method may be applied in a small class different from lecture method that can be applied where the class population is high.

3. QUESTION AND ANSWER METHOD- These methods also refer to the system under which applied by teaching in the class to make sure that the students are memorizing and assure the understanding is becoming very high in class. The prior knowledge of the student is considered to be of very important. From this fountain is where the trench of knowledge is to dig to make a big and wide canal of knowledge. Through this means, it assures the students and the teacher to share deferments issues.

4. DEBATE METHOD – This applied by the teacher depending on the nature of the class that whoever the class is small or large, it will enable a teacher to design on the changes upon a class. For example; attaining of instructional objectives depend on the method used. If the objectives need the student to list, mention or naming then the teaching method, strategies and techniques must relate to listing, mentioning, or naming.

5. EXPLANATION METHOD – This is a method under which the instructors tend to use the lesson notes from different sources to brainstorming his or her student and assuring them to understand the lesson as well. Here the teacher act as the main instructor and the students tends to listen to him or her when explaining.

Benefit of Reading

There are so many books all over the world, covering different topics. There are fiction and the non-fiction kinds of books that suit different age groups. Reading is very important, even though many people do not seem to realize it.

In today’s society, it is important to be knowledgeable and learn as much as you can about different topics. Some of the reasons why reading is so important include:

It is fundamental to the functioning of the society today

There are so many people who are unable to read so as to understand the instructions that are indicated on different things such as medicine. This can be scary to many since it is such an important function. When you cannot read, then you may not be able to handle applications without some help. There are the warning and road signs that can be difficult to understand if you cannot read.

Landing jobs

If you want to find a good job, then reading is important. There are jobs that require one to read to be able to perform. Memos, reports, and so on have to be read, understood and then given a response. When you read widely, you become more knowledgeable and therefore you may end up impressing the panel with what you know.

Develops the mind

When you read, then you are essentially developing your own mind. The mind needs to be exercised. When you read and understand, then the ability of your mind automatically grows. When children are taught and encouraged to read extensively, then it improves their language skills. They get better at concentrating and listening. This then mold a person to be better.

Discovering new things

This is the best way in which you can discover things you had no idea about. EBooks, magazines, and all sorts of books are great tools that can be used to discover things. It is very easy to educate yourself regarding different issues and topics. In this age, there is so much information that is available out there. The only way that you can make use of this information is by actually reading it.

Developing one’s imagination

When you read, then your imagination develops in the process. In as much as computer games and television are great, they are great for amusement. This is something that does not require much thinking. As for reading, you can travel to any part of the world. You can go on adventures, take on a character, and so many other things that would have been unknown to you.

Creativity

Reading makes you more creative. When you are reading something such as a novel, you keep on thinking about how things will go in the end. You create your own storyline and regardless of whether the author thinks like you or not, every twist makes everything so much better. Even when you decide to read an inspirational book, you get challenged and you start thinking beyond your comfort zone. When you read, your self-image improves incredibly. These are some of the things that warrant a lot of reading at all times.
